The operation and design of electrolysers at hydrogen refuelling stations was modelled in a number of European countries based on current and future electricity systems. Retail cost of hydrogen based on the cost of production as well as refuelling infrastructure were calculated and the impact of various factors on those were assessed including provision of grid services and refuelling station utilisation. Based on the techno-economic modelling changes of the optimal design of electrolysers in future electricity systems compared to current systems are investigated.
